Personal information is data that can be used to uniquely identify or contact a single person.
Here are some examples of the types of personal information Open Solutions may collect and how we may use it.
What personal information we collect
- When you create an Open Solutions ID, download software, register for a class, we may collect a variety of information, including your name, mailing address, phone number, email address, contact preferences, and credit card information.
- The personal information we collect allows us to keep you posted on Open Solutions’ latest product announcements, software updates, and upcoming events. It also helps us to improve our services, content, and advertising.
- We also use personal information to help us develop, deliver, and improve our products, services, content, and advertising.
- From time to time, we may use your personal information to send important notices, such as communications about purchases and changes to our terms, conditions, and policies. Because this information is important to your interaction with Open Solutions, you may not opt out of receiving these communications.
- We may also use personal information for internal purposes such as auditing, data analysis, and research to improve Open Solutions’ products, services, and customer communications.
How we use your personal information
Collection and Use of Non-Personal Information
We also collect non-personal information − data in a form that does not permit direct association with any specific individual. We may collect, use, transfer, and disclose non-personal information for any purpose. The following are some examples of non-personal information that we collect and how we may use it:
- We may collect information such as occupation, language, zip code, area code, unique device identifier, location, and the time zone where an Open Solutions product is used so that we can better understand customer behavior and improve our products, services, and advertising.
If we do combine non-personal information with personal information the combined information will be treated as personal information for as long as it remains combined.
Cookies and Other Technologies
If you want to disable cookies, you will need to do so through your personal web brower. Please note that certain features of the Open Solutions website may not be available once cookies are disabled.
As is true of most websites, we gather some information automatically and store it in log files. This information includes Internet Protocol (“IP”) addresses, browser type and language, Internet service provider (“ISP”), referring and exit pages, operating system, date/time stamp, and clickstream data.
We use this information to understand and analyze trends, to administer the site, to learn about user behavior on the site, and to gather demographic information about our user base as a whole. Open Solutions may use this information in our marketing and advertising services.
In some of our email messages, we use a “click-through URL” linked to content on the Open Solutions website. When customers click one of these URLs, they pass through a separate web server before arriving at the destination page on our website. We track this click-through data to help us determine interest in particular topics and measure the effectiveness of our customer communications. If you prefer not to be tracked in this way, you should not click text or graphic links in the email messages.
Pixel tags enable us to send email messages in a format customers can read, and they tell us whether mail has been opened. We may use this information to reduce or eliminate messages sent to customers.
Disclosure to Third Parties
At times Open Solutions may make certain personal information available to strategic partners that work with Open Solutions to provide products and services, or that help Open Solutions market to customers. Personal information will only be shared by Open Solutions to provide or improve our products, services and advertising; it will not be shared with third parties for their marketing purposes.
It may be necessary − by law, legal process, litigation, and/or requests from public and governmental authorities within or outside your country of residence − for Open Solutions to disclose your personal information. We may also disclose information about you if we determine that for purposes of national security, law enforcement, or other issues of public importance, disclosure is necessary or appropriate.
We may also disclose information about you if we determine that disclosure is reasonably necessary to enforce our terms and conditions or protect our operations or users. Additionally, in the event of a reorganization, merger, or sale we may transfer any and all personal information we collect to the relevant third party.

Open Solutions takes precautions — including administrative, technical, and physical measures — to safeguard your personal information against loss, theft, and misuse, as well as against unauthorized access, disclosure, alteration, and destruction.
Open Solutions online services such as the DNAappstore use Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) encryption on all web pages where personal information is collected. To make purchases from these services, you must use an SSL-enabled browser such as Safari, Firefox, Chrome or Internet Explorer. Doing so protects the confidentiality of your personal information while it’s transmitted over the Internet.
When you use some Open Solutions products, services, or applications or post on an Open Solutions forum, the personal information you share is visible to other users and can be read, collected, or used by them. You are responsible for the personal information you choose to submit in these instances. For example, if you list your name and email address in a forum posting, that information is public. Please use appropriate caution when using these features.
Integrity and Retention of Personal Information

You can help ensure that your contact information and preferences are accurate, complete, and up to date by logging in to your account at https://compass.opensolutions.com/psp/crmprod/CUSTOMER/CRM/?cmd=start&. For other personal information, we make good faith efforts to provide you with access so you can request that we correct the data if it is inaccurate or delete the data if Open Solutions is not required to retain it by law or for legitimate business purposes. We may decline to process requests that are unreasonably repetitive, require disproportionate technical effort, jeopardize the privacy of others, are extremely impractical, or for which access is not otherwise required by applicable law.
We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we learn that we have collected the personal information of a child under 13 we will take steps to delete the information as soon as possible.
Third-Party Sites and Services
Open Solutions websites, products, applications, and services may contain links to third-party websites, products, and services. Our products and services may also use or offer products or services from third parties. Information collected by third parties, which may include such things as location data or contact details, is governed by their privacy practices. We encourage you to learn about the privacy practices of those third parties.

Discussion Forum Terms of Service
In addition to the terms of service governing the DNAappstore website generally, this Terms of Service shall govern specifically your use of the DNAappstore Discussion Forum (the “Forum”).
IMPORTANT: BY ACCESSING OR USING THE FORUM, YOU CHOOSE TO ACCEPT THIS AGREEMENT, AND ACCEPT IT AS PRESENTED TO YOU, WITHOUT CHANGES. OPEN SOLUTIONS WILL ACCEPT NO ADDITIONS OR DELETIONS. At any time Open Solutions may change, add, or remove any part of this Agreement or any part of the services and features provided at the DNAappstore Site. If it does so, Open Solutions will update the Agreement here and may also post such changes elsewhere on the DNAappstore Site. These terms and conditions are in addition to, and not in lieu of the terms and conditions applicable to the DNAappstore Site generally. In the event of any conflict of these terms and conditions with those of the DNAappstore Site, these terms and conditions shall govern with respect to the DNAappstore Discussion Forum, but only to the extent necessary to resolve such conflict.
IF ANY FUTURE CHANGE IS UNACCEPTABLE TO YOU, STOP USING THE DNAAPPSTORE DISCUSSION FORUM SITE IMMEDIATELY. YOUR CONTINUED USE OF THIS SITE WILL INDICATE YOUR ACCEPTANCE OF THIS AGREEMENT AND ANY CHANGES TO IT.
(a) As long as you comply with the Agreement, Open Solutions grants you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, limited privilege to enter and use the Forum.
(b) Views expressed on the Forum are those of the posters and are not necessarily those of Open Solutions. Open Solutions does not endorse any postings to the Forum.
(c) Open Solutions does not prescreen information submitted by users of the Forum (“Postings”). Open Solutions retains the right, but not the obligation, to edit or remove any Posting, including those deemed by Open Solutions to violate the Agreement. Open Solutions will make good faith efforts to investigate allegations that a specific Posting violates the Agreement but (a) makes no warranty to you that it will edit, remove, or continue to permit the display of any specific Posting, whether or not subject to such allegations, and (b) will have no liability whatsoever for editing, removing, or continuing to permit the display of any Posting whatsoever.
(d) Open Solutions does not formally provide technical support on the Forum. If any information is provided by Open Solutions or Open Solutions employees, such information is provided on an “AS IS” basis without warranties of any kind, including implied warranties of merchantability and fitness for a particular purpose.
- Postings. To ensure that the Forum is of benefit to all Forum users, all posters are expected to adhere to the following rules at all times:
(a) Stay on topic. The Forum is here to help people use Open Solutions products and technologies more effectively and to permit the Open Solutions user community to engage in dialog about Open Solutions products and services, particularly those available through the DNAaappstore. Unless otherwise noted, do not add Postings about nontechnical topics, including:
(i) Speculations or rumors about unannounced products or DNAapps.
(ii) Discussions of Open Solutions policies or procedures or speculation on Open Solutions decisions.
(b) Be polite. Everyone should feel comfortable reading Postings and participating in discussions. “Flames” (deliberately inflammatory postings) or other inappropriate statements, material, or links are not permitted, not are libelous, defamatory, indecent, harmful, harassing, intimidating, threatening, hateful, objectionable, discriminatory, abusive, vulgar, obscene, pornographic, sexually explicit, or offensive (sexually, racially, culturally, ethnically or otherwise) postings.
(c) Post only constructive comments and questions. Unless otherwise noted, your Posting should either be a technical support question or a technical support answer. Constructive feedback about product features is welcome as well.
(d) No advertising. Do not use the Forum to sell or market your products to others and do not post a URL unless it directly answers a user’s question. If any portion of your Posting, including any posted URL, results in any accrual of compensation or benefit to you, you must note this in your post by stating, “I may receive some form of compensation, financial or otherwise, from my recommendation or link.” As well, the following are not allowed:
(i) A Posting created solely to advertise a book, service, software or some other item for sale.
(ii) Any reference, including a link, to a commercial item that is not directly related to a relevant technical support question or answer. For example: “This post created by Acme Products Inc.”
(iii) You may sign your Postings with information about yourself. However, this should not include a link to another forum. An example of an acceptable signature:

(iv) Do not post polls or petitions or links to such items.
(e) No inappropriate user names (“Aliases”) or impersonations. Inappropriate or offensive user names or aliases will be removed and persons attempting to impersonate another user will be banned from using the Forum. User names may not contain email addresses or other contact information.
(f) Stay Lawful
(i) No material may be submitted that is intended to promote or commit an illegal act.
(ii) Do not submit software or descriptions of processes that break or otherwise ‘work around’ digital rights management software or hardware.
(iii) Do not post defamatory or negative material.
(g) Submit Only Information You Own Or Have A License to Submit. Material submitted must be your own work or work to which you have a license. You warrant and represent that you own or otherwise control all of the rights to the information contained in your Posting.
(h) Grant of License to Use Your Postings. By sending a Posting to the Forum you grant Open Solutions a perpetual, royalty-free, non-exclusive worldwide right and license to use, reproduce, modify, adapt, publish, translate, create derivative works from, distribute, perform, play, make available to the public, and exercise all copyright and publicity rights with respect to the Posting. If you do not want to grant to Open Solutions the rights set out above, do not send your Posting to the Forum.
- Interference with the Forum.
(a) You agree to not interfere with or disrupt the Forum.
- Breach of the Agreement
(a) If you fail to abide by these terms Open Solutions may, but is not obligated to, remove your Posting. Open Solutions may also send an e-mail that informs you that your Posting has been deleted or edited. Repeated inappropriate Postings may result in your relevant account or accounts being placed into temporary or permanent suspension of your ability access, use or participate in Forum discussion.
(b) If you post or send offensive or inappropriate content anywhere on or to the Forum or otherwise engage in any disruptive behavior which Open Solutions in its sole discretion considers to be serious and/or repeated, Open Solutions may use all available information about you to stop any such behavior. This may include informing relevant third parties such as your employer, Internet service provider, or law enforcement authorities.
(c) Open Solutions reserves the right to delete any Posting, or take action against any account, at any time, for any reason.
